Rare Bullion Coins

Rare bullion coins are a great investment during the recession. When stock prices go down silver, gold, copper and other metals go up.  While buying bullion from a respectable dealer who stores it for you is ok and buying square bullion pieces is good too, it is even more fun to buy rare bullion coins since you get double your pleasure.

Not only do you get the gold but you can have a fun time with your coin collection collecting various types of gold (or platinum, paldium or silver) coins.

There are various ways to collect coins:
• By country
• By metal type
• By year
• By mint
• Just what you like

Most collectors pick a type of coin and try to get one of every year issued from every mint in the highest quality they can find or afford.  With precious metal coins this could get very expensive but if you have cashed out your 401k to avoid a bad stock market and you are older, you may have a lot of money to play with.

If you are in a hurry to buy a bunch of metal, you might just want to check out what is available and buy the best deals or the ones that appeal to you the most.

Whatever your method of collection, precious metals make a great investment especially in hard times.

My mother’s parents had to flee the Russians in East Germany with nothing more than what they could carry.  They were able to trade their jewels for food to avoid starvation.  If they had had gold or other metal coins they might have gotten better deals on the food they had to purchase since each coin is usually less value than a fine piece of jewelry.

Hopefully you will never need the coins to avoid starvation but it is nice to have a few around in a hidden place that you can quickly get to them just in case.
